Every day this week, Cartier et Lelarge is giving one of its team members the chance to share what inspires them as a translator. Today, it’s my turn!
I am from Victoria, B.C. I did not grow up speaking French. But I have always been good with language. While in university, I realized that I could combine my love of French and writing by becoming a translator. Translation is fabulously intellectual. It is complicated and challenging. It is for the creative and the curious. Translation has enriched my life. It has brought me to Montreal and a beautiful bilingual culture. It has sculpted me into a master writer. And it has given me endless opportunities for constant learning and discovery. Happy International Translation Day!
